Richmond teenager arrested for stealing items from vehicles

A Richmond teenager has been arrested in relation to thefts in the Brickshire and Deer Lake neighborhoods of New Kent County.

Michael Alexander Deane, 19, of the 2200 block of E. Cary Street, was taken into custody after being identified as a suspect of multiple thefts.

In a press release from New Kent Sheriff’s Office, from June 21-27, several motor vehicles were entered without permission, with items removed from them. Among items stolen included firearms, electronics, and credit cards.

Investigators were able to identify and arrest Deane during the early morning hours on June 27 in the Five Lakes neighborhood. The investigators were able to recover three stolen firearms, firearm magazines, assorted ammunition, and other items that were identified as stolen from vehicles.

Deane is being charged with grand larceny, vehicle tampering, and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. The investigation is still pending as authorities indicated that other suspects may be involved with the thefts.
