Newport News man who allegedly robbed Stewart’s Grocery among New Kent indictments

A Newport News man who allegedly robbed a store in Lanexa was indicted by a grand jury during Monday morning proceedings in New Kent Circuit Court.

Karim Aziz Muhammad, 46, of the 100 block of North Redwood Court, was indicted on a single count of robbery.

On Apr. 11 around 2:40 p.m., New Kent Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for service to Stewart’s Grocery, located at the 15000 block of Pocahontas Trail. The police report indicated that a male approached the store clerk and demanded cash from the register. The suspect was able to obtain the money and left the scene.

New Kent Sheriff’s Office obtained information about a potential suspect, later identified as Muhammad. A search commenced for the suspected and he was apprehended three days later (Apr. 14). He was subsequently charged and indicted on the alleged offense.

In other indictments handed up by the grand jury:

–Selena Makayla Bell, 20, of the 4300 block of Templar Drive, Portsmouth, on two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer. Bell allegedly committed the offenses on Sept. 25, 2019.

–Travis Wayne Bragg, 29, of the 7800 block of Timber Drive, Quinton, on a lone count of possession of a Schedule I/II substance. Bragg allegedly possessed methamphetamine on Oct. 24, 2019.

–Jose Cervantes, 45, of the 1300 block of Pine Cone Circle, Virginia Beach, on one charge each of felony eluding and misdemeanor DUI (first offense). Cervantes allegedly ran from police while intoxicated on Dec. 24, 2019.

–Terrence Doran Delaney, 35, of the 14000 block of Rockahock Road, Lanexa, on a solo count of possession of a Schedule I/II drug. Delaney was allegedly in possession of cocaine upon his arrest on Dec. 13, 2019.

–Matthew Clifford Deskins, 39, of the 5800 block of Flowering Peach Lane, Providence Forge, on a single charge of malicious wounding. The offense that injured the victim allegedly took place on Aug. 24, 2019.

–Cody Allan Dobbeck, 25, the 100 block of Leisure Road, Toano, on a single count of possession of a gun by a nonviolent felon. Dobbeck allegedly had a firearm in his possession while hunting on Dec. 14, 2019.

–Jeremy Scott Freeman, 45, of the 8800 block of Richmond Road West, Toano, on a single count of possession of a Schedule I/II substance. Freeman allegedly was in possession of methamphetamine on Feb. 6.

–Christopher Milton Golderos, 42, of the 12000 block of Old Telegraph Road, Providence Forge, on a solo county of possession of a Schedule I/II substance. Golderos allegedly possessed amphetamine on Sept. 2, 2019.

–Howard William Hogue, 22, currently of Henrico Jail East, on one count of destruction of a fire protection system by a prisoner. Hogue allegedly destroyed the safety equipment while he was a prisoner at Henrico Jail East on Nov. 5, 2019.

–Misty Nicole Jenkins, 44, of the 15000 block of Pocahontas Trail, Lanexa, on three counts of firearm larceny. Jenkins allegedly stole a Taurus .22 caliber, a Taurus .45 caliber, and a Ruger LCP .380 belonging to Steven Taylor on Dec. 3, 2019.

–Garrett Lee Miller, 26, of the 9000 block of Sherwood Drive, Quinton, on one count of felony eluding of police. The defendant allegedly led authorities on a chase on Jan. 11.

–Mitchell Payne Morse III, 18, of the 7700 block of Poindexter Road, New Kent, on two counts of forgery and uttering. Morse allegedly used fraudulent checks at two different C&F Banks in New Kent on Jan. 24.

–Naim Quintin Muhammad, 58, of the 2900 block of Garland Avenue, Richmond, on one count of felony eluding of police. The defendant allegedly committed the offense on Feb. 24.

–Melissa Shook Perkins, 50, of the 1700 block of Arrowhead Road, Quinton, on a single charge of possession of a controlled substance. Perkins allegedly possessed Fentanyl and methamphetamine on Feb. 15.

–Yves Gerald Pretto, 37, of the 3200 block of Bentham Lane, Chesapeake, on three counts of credit card larceny, and one count each of credit card fraud and receiving of stolen goods. The indictment alleges that Pretto took a card issued by Elan Financial and PNC that belonged to Sally Evans and used it without her permission. The offenses took place on May 28, 2019 and Aug. 20, 2019.

–Melvin Darnell Randall Jr., 25, of the 5800 block of Yellow Jasmine Terrance, Providence Forge, on one count each of possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor DUI (first offense), and misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Randall allegedly operated a vehicle while under the influence on Feb. 5, and upon his arrest possessed methamphetamine.

–Patrick Randolph Roberts, 50, of the 2200 block of Q Street, Richmond, on a single charge of grand theft auto. The defendant alleged stole a Nissan Sentra belonging to Tyrell Clark on Apr. 12.

–Westmore Wilson Tabb III, 25, of the 8900 block of Old Elam Cemetery Road, Charles City, on two counts of conspiracy to sell a Schedule I/II substance. Tabb allegedly conspired to sell cocaine on De. 4, 2019.

–Jerry Marcellus Thurston, 47, of the 9400 block of Donachy Drive, Chesterfield, on a lone charge of DUI (third offense). Thurston allegedly operated a motor vehicle while intoxicated on Nov. 22, 2019.

–Brianne Caldwell Tompkins, 23, of the 1900 block of Estates Drive, Lanexa, on one count of possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The defendant allegedly possessed cocaine on Jan. 5.

–David Shannon Watson Jr., 31, of 7 Pomona South, Apt. 11, Pikesville, Maryland, on a single charge of distribution of marijuana greater than one-half ounce and less than five pounds. The defendant apparently committed the offense on Feb. 21, 2020.

–David Maurice Williams, 52, of the 4900 block of Adkins Road, Charles City, on a single misdemeanor charge of driving as a habitual offender. The offense allegedly took place on Dec. 2, 2019.

–DelMar Lynn Zimmerman, 37, of the 100 block of S. Market Street, Ephrata, Pennsylvania, on a lone count of felony hit and run. Zimmerman allegedly hit a vehicle on Interstate 64, resulting in the injury of a person, on Feb. 10 and fled the scene afterwards.
