A Lanexa woman has entered no contest pleas to three counts of firearm larceny.

Misty Nicole Jenkins, 45, of the 15000 block of Pocahontas Trail, entered the pleas as part of an agreement reached during Monday afternoon proceedings in New Kent Circuit Court. One count each of robbery and second-degree murder were dropped as part of the deal. A no contest plea indicates that evidence presented during the trial would be enough to convict the defendant of the crime.

In a summary of evidence provided by Commonwealth Attorney Scott Renick, on Dec. 4, 2019, a deputy from New Kent Sheriff’s Office responded to the residence of Steven Taylor where it was reported that a Taurus .22 caliber, a Taurus .45 caliber, and a Ruger LCP .380 were taken. An investigation began, where it was determined that Misty Jenkins and her husband, Michael Jenkins, were at the home. Misty Jenkins distracted the victim by telling him that her vehicle was malfunctioning. As Taylor took the vehicle for a test drive, Jenkins and her husband went inside the home and took the weapons as they were familiar with the layout and location of the items. Misty Jenkins and her husband were arrested afterwards, and the weapons were recovered.

Under the agreement, a presentence report is being prepared with the defendant facing up to 60 years in prison (20 years on each charge). Formal sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 10, 2022.
