A Providence Forge man will spend the next nine months in jail after receiving formal sentencing stemming from a 2020 incident.

Charles Lloyd White, 50, of the 7600 block of Courthouse Road, received judgement on four convictions during Monday morning proceedings in Charles City Circuit Court.

On June 5, 2020, White entered guilty pleas to one count each of credit card larceny and credit card fraud. He admitted that on Feb. 27, 2020, he resided with a family member within the county and took out a credit card belonging to the family member. White traveled to the Dollar General within the county and purchased items with the card. He was placed in the First Offender Program as an alternative sentence and could have one of his charges reduced if he completed it successfully.

But after White was kicked out of his drug rehabilitation class. Shortly afterwards, he was tested for drugs, resulting in a positive reading, and triggering the misdemeanor disobeying a court order charge. White also was found guilty for using a vehicle without the owner’s permission just a few weeks prior to his credit card incident.

White received a five-year sentence with four years, six months suspended (six months to serve) on the unauthorized use of a vehicle conviction. He will serve two months on the misdemeanor credit card fraud conviction and 30 days on the misdemeanor disobeying a judgement verdict after pleading no contest. All five years on the credit card larceny charge were suspended.
