Colonial Heights man indicted on forgery charges by Charles City grand jury

A Colonial Heights man who allegedly identified himself falsely has been indicted on five charges in Charles City County.

Rodney Dean Bowman Jr., 28, of the 300 block of Moorman Avenue, was handed up indictments on two counts of forgery of a public record, misdemeanor possession of a fake identification card, misdemeanor false identification to a police officer, and misdemeanor receiving stolen goods during Tuesday morning proceedings in Charles City Circuit Court.

The indictment alleged that on Mar. 30, officers responded to a call for service near Tiny Little Children Daycare on Church Lane. When officers arrived, they noticed a man walking away from one of the organization’s vans with a catalytic converter. When questioned, the man provided false information and was later identified as Bowman. He was placed under arrest on the multiple charges.

In other indictments certified by the grand jury:

–Justice Conrad Carter, 32, of 19 Oak Leaf Drive, Louisa, on a lone charge of assault and battery on a family member (third or subsequent offense). The offense allegedly took place on Dec. 26, 2021.

–Michael Dwayne Gibson, 39, of the 100 block of Burgess Street, Williamsburg, on two counts of forgery of a public record. Gibson allegedly signed the name of another person after he was involved in a single vehicle accident on Apr. 11.

–Paul Ronold Gwaz, 64, of the 9000 block of Barnetts Road, Charles City, on one count of malicious wounding, two misdemeanor counts of assault and battery, and two misdemeanor counts of damaging a phone line. Gwaz allegedly attacked the victim during a physical altercation, causing injury on Apr. 5.

–Christopher Glenn Marshburn, 42, of the 2100 block of M Street, Richmond, on one count each of strangulation, misdemeanor assault and battery on a family member, and misdemeanor violation of a protective order. The defendant allegedly committed the offense on Feb. 18, and allegedly contacted the victim on Mar. 23 after instructed not to do so by the court.
