Pilger appointed principal of Quinton Elementary School

Christine Pilger has been named as the principal of the new Quinton Elementary School opening this school year in New Kent County.

Pilger was introduced at Monday night’s school board work session as the hire to run the building and its operations. She has 12 years of experience in the leadership position, with her recent stint in the field of education working in Newport News Public Schools.

New Kent Superintendent of Schools Brian Nichols provided an update of the construction and progress of Quinton Elementary School. He expects the school to be on time, with the latest information received including the receiving of kitchen equipment and flooring for the auditorium.

All classroom schedule is expected to be onsite by Aug. 2. Asphalt for the playground equipment has been installed, with the expectation that playground equipment should be in place by the end of September to early October.

A certificate of occupancy is expected to be obtained on Aug. 12.
