Providence Forge man dies in Charles City automobile accident

A Providence Forge man has died as the result of an automobile accident on July 3 in Charles City County.

Darrin R. Jones, 55, died at the scene according to a report released by the Virginia State Police.

According to that report, at approximately 12:30 a.m., a 1993 Nissan 300ZX was traveling westbound on Route 602 (Lott Cary Road) less than half-a-mile from Route 155 (Courthouse Road) when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

Jones succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
