Quinton man indicted on second degree murder charge by New Kent grand jury

A Quinton man has been indicted on two felony charges, including second degree murder, by a New Kent grand jury.

Jason Tyler Boyd, 40, of the 9200 block of Pine Hollow Road, was indicted on one charge each of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in a felony (first offense) as part of morning proceedings in New Kent Circuit Court.

According to the indictment, on Nov. 12, 2022, allegations suggest that Boyd heard someone at his residence at 11:20 p.m. but did not respond. About 20 minutes later, he saw an individual on his back door at his porch. Boyd allegedly pulled out his gun and shot the individual, later identified as Eric Sluder, through a crack between the door and the doorway. When emergency medical personnel arrived, Sluder was pronounced dead at the scene.

In other indictments certified by the grand jury:

–Stacy Demont Bailey, 34, of the 200 block of Barham Boulevard, Yorktown, on one count each of unauthorized use of a vehicle and felony eluding. Bailey allegedly used a vehicle belonging to Sierra Chance without her permission and used it during a chase involving law enforcement officers on Mar. 4.

–Bobbie Ann Couch, 23, of the 600 block of Brown Street, Petersburg, on a solo charge of possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The defendant was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine on Mar. 17.

–Tavares Mauries Edwards, 47, of the 7200 block of Pine Fork Road, Quinton, on one charge each of assault and battery on a family member (third offense) and misdemeanor violating a protective order. The offenses allegedly occurred on Mar. 30.

–Melissa Paige Fitzgerald, 49, of the 3800 block of Pocahontas Trail, Quinton, on a solo count of buying or receiving stolen goods. Fitzgerald allegedly had stolen lottery tickets valued at more than $1,000 on Nov. 13, 2022.

–Amil Griffith, 22, of the 2000 block of Seldendale Drive, Hampton, and William Lamont Braxton, 34, currently of Henrico Jail East, on one count each of delivering drugs to a prisoner. The offense allegedly took place on May 1.

–Damarian Sharrod Gross, 20, of the 1600 block of Corpew Avenue, Norfolk, on a solo charge of distributing marijuana greater than one ounce but less than five pounds. The offense allegedly took place on Oct. 9, 2022.

–Albert Eugene Johnson, 36, of the 500 block of Chesdale Court, Williamsburg, on a lone count of possession of a Schedule I/II substance. The defendant was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine on Mar. 19.

–Gary Antonio Jones, 26, of the 9400 block of Holly Tree Lane, Charles City, on a solo count of felony eluding of police. The defendant allegedly committed the offense on Feb. 23.

–Jonathan Darryl Jones, 60, of the 4600 block of Cabrini Place, Cumming, Georgia, on one charge each of felony hit and run, and misdemeanor driving under the influence (second offense). The defendant allegedly hit a vehicle belonging to Robert Snowdon on May 21 and fled the scene of the accident.

–Kelly Michael Kaplan, 46, of the 4900 block of Old Brook Road, Richmond, on one count each of possession of a gun by a nonviolent felon and possession of ammunition by a felon. Kaplan allegedly was in possession of a gun and shells on Apr. 6.

–Antwan Dante Lewis, 44, of the 3300 block of Lafayette Boulevard, Fredericksburg, on a solo charge of receiving a stolen firearm. Lewis was allegedly in possession of the stolen weapon on Apr. 14.

–Donald Matthews Moore Jr., 35, of the 7900 block of Flannigan Mill Road, Mechanicsville, on two counts each of indecent acts with a child and misdemeanor sexual battery. Moore allegedly committed the inappropriate acts between June 1, 2022 to Sept. 22, 2022.

–Brandon Isaiah Morris, 31, of the 900 block of Dirk Drive, Richmond, on a single count of possession of a gun by a nonviolent felon. The defendant allegedly was
in possession of the firearm illegally on May 17.

–Rondell Ladante Orange, 31, of the 400 block of Smith Street, Fredericksburg, on a solo charge of possession of a Schedule I/II drug. Orange was allegedly in possession of cocaine on Apr. 14.

–Crystal Rose Southers, 30, of the 24000 block of Rainey Creek Drive, McKenney, on one count each of possession of a Schedule I/II drug, felony eluding of police, and misdemeanor driving under the influence of drugs (first offense). The defendant allegedly operated a vehicle under the influence of drugs while she attempted to flee from law enforcement officers on Mar. 18.

–Hawanda Wheeler Steadman, 38, of the 3500 block of Bainbridge Drive, Prince George, on one charge each of breaking and entering, misdemeanor assault and battery on a family member, and misdemeanor assault and battery. Steadman allegedly entered the home of Terrence Steadman without permission and attacked the victims.

–Teresa Norma Toney, 55, of the 2100 block of Stocker Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio, on one count each of felony child abuse and driving suspended or revoked after being previously convicted of a related felony. The offenses allegedly took place on Mar. 16.

–Chad Jacob Turner, 33, of the 2300 block of Ft. Chesapeake Quay, Virginia Beach, on one count each of possession of a Schedule I/II drug, possession of a weapon by a violent felon, possession of a gun while in possession of a Schedule I/II drug, assault on a law enforcement officer, misdemeanor driving under the influence (second offense), and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Turner was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine and a gun after being pulled over for a traffic violation on May 2.

–David Maurice Williams, 55, of the 4900 block of Adkins Road, Providence Forge, on a lone charge of assault on a law enforcement officer. The offense allegedly took place on Jan. 29.

–Dominique Lashad Williams, 31, of the 3000 block of Sewells Point Road, Norfolk, on three counts each of credit card larceny, and one count each of credit card forgery and possession of a forgery device. Williams allegedly committed the crimes on Mar. 4.
