NKBOS approves $61,500 sewer pipes repair for Patriots Landing

New Kent’s Board of Supervisors approved an emergency request to repair sewer pipes that caused an erosion at Patriots Landing Place.

County leaders approved $61,500 for the services to BTS to fix the hazard as part of Tuesday night’s regular meeting.

Director of Public Utilities Mike Lang addressed the board about the situation. Located at the 7800 block of Patriots Landing Place, the repair is a sewer easement that has a scour threatening the pipes. Lang commented that while they are normally not in the stormwater business, the issue raised several concerns and needed to be addressed immediately.

Board members asked if any litigation could be filed against the developer for the issue, but Lang responded, saying that it would be time-consuming and make the situation worse if the repairs were delayed.

After a brief discussion, county leaders unanimously approved an appropriation from emergency funds to correct the erosion repair.
