Providence Forge man indicted on several charges, including attempted murder of a police officer

A Providence Forge man has been indicted on several felony charges including attempted murder of a police officer.

As part of Monday morning in New Kent Circuit Court, a grand jury indicted Robert Wayles Watkins III, 54, of the 10000 block of White Dogwood Drive, was indicted on one charge each of attempted aggravated murder of a law enforcement officer, attempting to maim a law enforcement animal officer, felony eluding, felony destruction of property, misdemeanor destruction of property, misdemeanor violating a protective order, and misdemeanor assault and battery. The charges stem from an alleged incident on Dec. 9, 2025.

In other indictments certified by the grand jury:

–Mariano William Basset, 25, of the 7800 block of Poindexter Road, New Kent, on a lone charge of strangulation. The offense allegedly occurred on May 11.

–Matthew Douglas Bowen, 32, of the 7700 block of Halifax Road, North Dinwiddie, on a lone charge of shooting into an occupied building. The offense allegedly occurred on March 4.

–Jalen Joseph Breighner, 20, of the 90 block of Wren Lane, Strausburg, on one count each of breaking and entering, abduction, misdemeanor stalking, misdemeanor using profane language, misdemeanor assault and battery, and misdemeanor trespassing after being forbidden. The offenses allegedly took place on Mar. 20.

–Joseph Ryan Brophy, 29, of the 7000 block of Angel View Lane, Lanexa, on one charge each of driving while intoxicated (third or subsequent offence) and possession of a Schedule I/II drug. Brophy allegedly operated a vehicle on June 6 and was allegedly in possession of Fentanyl at the time of his arrest.

–Maripaz Sahorio Chinchilla, 21, of the 100 block of Courtney Lane, Carrollton, on one count each of felony eluding police and misdemeanor reckless driving. The offenses allegedly took place on July 19.

–Amanda Nichole Cook, 30, of the 1500 block of Dispatch Road, Quinton, on one count each of making a threat by writing, misdemeanor trespassing, misdemeanor entering a property to commit damage, and misdemeanor failure to render services to a child. The offenses allegedly took place on July 14.

–Tyler George Lyman Flannery, 24, of the 900 block of Glidewell Road, Richmond, on one charge each of failing to stop at the scene of an accident and misdemeanor reckless driving. The offenses allegedly took place on June 23.

–John Leon Flint Jr., 53, of Virginia Beach, on a single charge of possession of a Schedule I/II substance. Flint was allegedly in possession of Fentanyl on Apr. 9.

–Timothy Wayne Foote, 36, of the 5200 block of Hopewell Road, New Kent, on a lone count of aggravated sexual battery of a minor. The offense allegedly took place on Dec. 30, 2025.

–Daniel Burgess Fowler, 55, of the 4700 block of Olivet Church Road, Providence Forge, on one count each of driving while intoxicated (third or subsequent offense) and misdemeanor driving suspended. The offenses allegedly occurred on May 6.

–Jessica Hamilton Hutt, 41, of the 2400 block of Prince Andrew Court, Quinton, on three charges of firearm larceny and two charges of misdemeanor violating a protective order. Hutt allegedly stole the weapons on Nov. 17, 2025.

–Daniel John Kear II, 24, of the 800 block of Ironwood Drive, Yorktown, on one charge each of hit and run and failing to stop at the scene of an accident. The offenses allegedly occurred on Jan. 19.
