Lanexa woman dies in New Kent motorcycle accident
A Saturday afternoon accident on Stage Road in New Kent has resulted in the death of a Lanexa woman. According to a Virginia State Police report, officers responded to a single-vehicle crash eastbound on Stage Road. A 2013 Triumph Street Triple R motorcycle ran off the road on the right and struck a tree. The driver, Sara Madrae Holden, 38, was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene. She was wearing a helmet at the time. The crash remains under investigation.
Former Charles City supervisor Timothy Cotman Sr. succumbs
Former Charles City County Board of Supervisor member Timothy Cotman Sr. has died. Cotman passed away on Aug. 1, 2023, at the age of 80. Cotman served on Charles City’s Board of Supervisors from 2002-2011. Mechanicsville man to serve four years in prison for driving intoxicated in New Kent County
A Mechanicsville man who drove under the influence of drugs in New Kent County will spend more than four years in prison after pleading guilty to several charges as part of Monday morning proceedings in New Kent Circuit Court. Christopher Russell Holt, 34, of the 7000 block of Wahoo Court, entered guilty pleas to one count of driving while intoxicated (DWI) after being previously convicted of a similar charge, felony eluding of police, and felony destruction of property as part of a plea agreement reached. Providence Forge man sentenced to three years in prison for possessing child pornography
A Providence Forge man will spend three years in prison for possessing child pornography after receiving formal sentencing during Monday proceedings in New Kent Circuit Court. Christopher Paul Perry, 36, received the active term of incarceration following his sentencing hearing on the offense. During a May 22 trial, Perry entered a guilty plea to a single count of possession of child pornography as part of a plea agreement that was reach. A Quinton man has been indicted on two felony charges, including second degree murder, by a New Kent grand jury. Jason Tyler Boyd, 40, of the 9200 block of Pine Hollow Road, was indicted on one charge each of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in a felony (first offense) as part of morning proceedings in New Kent Circuit Court. Providence Forge man dies in Charles City automobile accident
A Providence Forge man has died as the result of an automobile accident on July 3 in Charles City County. Darrin R. Jones, 55, died at the scene according to a report released by the Virginia State Police. According to that report, at approximately 12:30 a.m., a 1993 Nissan 300ZX was traveling westbound on Route 602 (Lott Cary Road) less than half-a-mile from Route 155 (Courthouse Road) when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree.
