An accident on Eltham Road (Route 33) in New Kent on New Year’s Eve has resulted in the death of a West Point man. According to the Virginia State Police, at 2:44 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2021, officers responded to a single vehicle crash on Eltham Road approximately one mile north of New Kent Highway (Rt. 249). A Providence Forge man has been formally found guilty on two charges related to larceny and fraud in Charles City County. Charles Lloyd White, 50, of the 7600 block of Courthouse Road, was rendered guilty verdicts on one count each of credit card larceny and misdemeanor credit card fraud. Two men were indicted by a grand jury as part of Tuesday morning proceedings in Charles City Circuit Court: –Robert Earl Davis, 32, of the 8200 block of Buffin Road, Richmond, on a solo count of possession of a Schedule I/II drug. Davis allegedly was in possession of methamphetamine on Apr. 30, 2021. –Adam Michael Sullivan, 35, of the 11000 block of Canora Lane, Providence Forge, on a single count of failing to register as a sex offender (second offense). Sullivan allegedly failed to fill out the necessary documentation on June 1, 2021.
A former employee of Cumberland Hospital in New Kent will spend a year in jail after receiving formal sentencing on one count of unlawful wounding during Monday afternoon’s proceedings in New Kent Circuit Court. Stacey Burrell, 57, of King William, learned her fate stemming from a Sept. 14, 2019 incident at the hospital. According to the press release, around Dec. 10-11, officers responded to the facility to find vandalism and property destroyed at the park. The park, which opened in August, also has a concession stand with several items inside of it that could have been confiscated or damaged. New Kent County’s Board of Supervisors approved a redistricting plan to coincide with requirements set by the state at Monday night’s regular meeting. With a county population clocking in just over 23,000 people according to the 2020 census, supervisors followed a recommendation proposed by County Administrator Rodney Hathaway.
