Candidate for Charles City School Board- District 2: Herbert Johnson
Experience: Completing first term on Charles City’s School board, band chaperone, representative to Appomattox Regional Governor’s School and Code RVA. Reason for running: “I saw a vision for being the voice for kids and I have not completed that yet.” Why people should vote for you: “I have time, I have gained the experience, and I have partners around the state that will help me influence things to happen right here in Charles City’s Public Schools.”
Candidate for New Kent’s School Board-District 1: Adriane Marshall
Experience: Completing four-year term on New Kent School Board, seven years working with New Kent County, teaching experience. Reason for running: “The biggest thing is continuing to do what’s best for the kids and with the growth of our county, I want to make sure students have everything they need to be successful.” Why people should vote for you: “I care about the community. It has the best kids and I will work hard to represent the kids not only in my district, but in all districts.”
Candidate for Charles City School Board- District 1: Joy Harris
Experience: Currently works in social services, member of PTSA, secretary for Charles City Elementary School PTO, 2002 graduate of Charles City Public Schools. Reason for running: “I want to make changes within the school. I want to increase the population by proving more innovation for education and increase student morale for parents and students.” Why people should vote for you: “I’m a parent of students who attend Charles City Public Schools. People are looking for a different face in the district. I will have open communication, as communication is key to anything you do.”

Experience: Business experience that include founding two cleaning companies and selling them, experience in business and budgeting. Reason for running: “My neighbors asked me to do it and in all morphed from the combat range. The more I thought about it, the more I saw New Kent changing and growing. Experience: Original member of New Kent Volunteer Fire Dept. (Company 3), assist with youth programs, small business owner, 15 years of experience with Virginia Department of Transportation, 60-year resident. Reason for running: “I want to see this county grow. I want to make the public more aware of what’s going on. I want to continue to work on bringing in Internet and want to help increase public safety.” Why people should vote for you: “I am an honest person and I am here to help people. I will work hard to get them what they want.”
Candidate for Charles City Board of Supervisors- District 3: Floyd Miles Sr.
Experience: Public service for 26 years including 22 years on Charles City’s Board of Supervisors and four years in the Virginia Assembly. Reason for running: “We got so many projects that I want to see come to past and not see others take credit for it. I want to see them come to an end. Why people should vote for you: “I know how to help this county. I have proven my leadership along my colleagues and I want to move this county forward.”
Candidate for New Kent Board of Supervisors- District 4: Ron Stiers
Experience: Completing second term of BOS, safety and transportation commission, appropriation committee speaker. Reason for running: Feel like I’m making positive changes for the county and I want to push that forward, proud of my record of keeping taxes low. Why people should vote for you: I am the voice of the people. I feel like I work hard to represent not only District 4 but the entire county.
