Brenda Gayle McKenzie

Brenda Gayle McKenzie, 68, of New Kent, slipped peacefully into the arms of Christ on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. She was born to Frances Payne and the late James Rowe of Newport News and was the oldest of her four sisters.

Brenda was a dedicated homemaker and an incredible cook. A Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots fan, she enjoyed the simple things in life. An avid reader, Brenda loved fishing, the colorful blooms in her yard, and watching the hummingbirds flock to her feeders. Brenda attended Hopewell Baptist Church and gave years of service as a leader of Cub Scout Pack 562.

Brenda is survived by her devoted husband, Jack McKenzie; her sons, Randy Harris and Chris Wilson, and their wives, Tiffany and Shalani; her beloved grandchildren, Robert, Thomas, Bel, and Dom; her mother, Frances Payne; step-father, Donald Payne of Florida; along with numerous nieces, a nephew, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Brenda will rest at Washington Memorial Park after a private family ceremony.
