Christopher Martel Adkins

Christopher Martel Adkins, 26, of New Kent, Virginia, passed suddenly on Oct. 28, 2020.

Chris graduated from New Kent High School on June 9, 2012 and was baptized at Elam Baptist Church when he was a teenager. He was employed by West Rock in Richmond. He was a family man who sincerely loved his wife, Mary, and their daughter, Addison. At heart, he was truly an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing with his father, working on cars with his brother, Rico, and hanging out with his older brother, Brandon.

Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Ruby Adkins Sr.; great-grandmother, Lillian Funn; cousins, Warren Lewis and Jayme Street; and dear friend, Tracy Turpin.

Chris is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine Adkins; daughter, Addison Marie Adkins; parents, Robert Jr. and Kathy Adkins; his beloved siblings, Enrico Adkins (Loreyna), Brandon Funn, and Dana Crawley; grandparents, James and Evelyn Funn Sr.; nieces and nephews, Dorrian, Arianna, Zaiden, Kyrie, Danaya, George, and Robert; mother and father-in-law, George and Brenda Adkins; sister-in-law, Jessica Pruitt (Glenn); beloved aunts and uncles, Karen Christian (Alex), James Funn, Alfreda Lewis, Annette Phillips (Virgil), and Alberta Adkins (Timothy); countless cousins and friends including Erika Christian and TreVon Adkins; and dear mentors and friends, Timmy Adkins, David Hathaway, Jody Adkins, and Albert Jones.

A walk-through visitation will take place on Friday, Nov. 13, 2020, 4-8 p.m. at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trial, Providence Forge, Virginia 23140. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14, 1 p.m. at Mary’s home, 5401 Cattail Road, Charles City, VA 23030. Please dress casually and bring lawn chair. Due to COVID-19, please use all necessary precautions when attending services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to a fund set-up to benefit his beautiful daughter, Addison. Donations can be made payable to Mary Adkins (FBO Addison Adkins) and deposited at any Citizens and Farmers Bank location. Tributes may be posted at www.vincentfh.com.
