David Thompson

David Thompson, 73, of Providence Forge, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, Mar. 6, 2019.

David was an avid sportsman and loved being outdoors. He enjoyed deer hunting with the Shuttlewood Hunt Club. If there was something to be done outside, you could bet Dave was going to be caught in the middle.

Dave was a friend to all. He was well known in the community and known to lend a helping hand. Telling stories and just shooting the breeze seemed to be one of David’s strong suits. He could talk for hours at a time if allowed. Out of all the things he loved to do, spending time with his grandchildren tops the list. Many times, he could be seen driving them around on his lawnmower.

David is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Judy; daughters, Cassie Thompson (Joseph), Mindy Caldwell (Timothy), and Abbie Smith of Dayton, Virginia; son, Chris Thompson of Dayton, Virginia; grandchildren, Adam, Ethan, Eliza, Isabelle, Alyssa, Chase, and Lane; along with other relatives and dear friends including his ankle biting furbaby, Oscar.
