Donald Earl Hayes

Donald Earl Hayes, 80, of Charles City, VA, passed away on June 29 after a long illness. He was surrounded by his family, friends, and dog.

Donald worked for the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries for 30 years as a natural resource manager. He was an avid outdoorsman and trained thoroughbred race horses in Maryland. Donald was dedicated and worked diligently for the restoration of the Charles City County Historical Courthouse.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara Hayes; his daughter, Kimberly Hayes Moyer (Kevin); his son, Philip Avery Hayes; his dog, Bubba; and numerous friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Aug. 24, 12 p.m., at Memorial United Methodist Church, 11000 Courthouse Road, Charles City, VA, 23030.
