George A. Philbates Jr.

George A. Philbates, Jr., 80, of New Kent, VA died Sunday, December 22, 2013.

He was the owner and operator of Philbates Auto Wrecking for 58 years. George was a member of Pamunkey United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gladys Philbates. George is survived by his wife, Becky Philbates; four children, George Philbates III, Patricia Berry (Wade), Cynthia Fields (John) and Kenneth Philbates; three stepchildren, John D. Hott, Jr (Kristen), William Hott, and Mary Catherine Crowder (John); a brother, Floyd Philbates (Betty); a sister, Julia Harlow (Sammy); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Thursday, December 26, 2 p.m. at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West Point, VA. Burial followed at Pamunkey United Methodist Church. The family received friends before the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
