Gerri was the first-born child of Aldon and Gladys Rowe of Rowe, Virginia. She spent all of her adult life in the Lanexa, Virginia area.

Ms. Gerri was a school bus driver for more than 40 years, serving New Kent County and Williamsburg-James City County. She spent her last five years of service as an aide for pre-school buses, retiring at the age of 81. Her day’s work was complete when the small children said, “I love you Ms. Gerri.”

Gerri is survived by her son, Gerald T. Hale (Susan); her grandchildren, Randall Keene, Jessica Keene, Katherine Hale, Tommy Hale (Harley), Tyler Block (Hannah), and Christian Block (Katie); her great-grandson, Grady Thompson Hale; her sister, Judy Rowe Nisich; her sister-in-law, Jean Rowe; Charles Hale, father to Scott and Gerald; daughter-in-law, Sandra Hale; and many adored nieces and nephews.

“And God said, “Come unto me all ye that labor and heavy laden, and I will give ye rest.””

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 12 p.m. at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, Virginia, with the family receiving friends an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park.
