Glenda Chavis Adkins

Glenda Chavis Adkins, 83, of Providence Forge, VA, entered her heavenly home July 4, 2019.

Glenda was a proud member of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina. She was also a wife, mother, teacher, and business owner.

Glenda was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Herman Adkins; and by her brother, Randall Chavis.

She is survived by her son, David Adkins; daughter, Becky Branch and her husband Eddie; three adopted daughters, Beth Locklear, Bunny Lynch (Archie), and Consuela Richardson; three brothers, Buddy, Lib, and Kenny Chavis; sister, Dorothy Lowery; six grandchildren, Dolly, Leann, Dyani, Ayani, Sierra, and Yanti; three sisters-in-law, Stella Chavis, Mildred Adkins, and Chrystal Adkins; and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 9, 11 a.m., at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA, with burial following in Samaria Baptist Church cemetery, Charles City, VA. The family received friends on Monday, July 8, 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family will receive school supplies to be donated to Charles City County Public Schools or memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the “Faith Smiles Scholarship” (in honor of Faith Hedgeppeth), 4000 Adkins Road, Providence Forge, VA, 23140.
