Jacob Wooten

Jacob “Jake” Wooten, of Lanexa, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023.

Jacob was a graduate of New Kent High School where he was on the football, baseball, and wrestling teams. He was a Dallas Cowboys’ fan who loved spending time with his family and longtime girlfriend, Taylor Sheaffer. Jake and his brother Mikey were an inseparable duo that spent countless hours “under the hood” of vehicles, working together. Jake and his brother were avid hunters and fishermen that enjoyed running their hound dogs.

Jacob was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Buck Tomlin, Ed and Ann Renick; and grandfather, Bill Wolfe.

He is survived by his mother, Amanda Wooten-Mayes (John); father, Tucker Renick (Hillary); longtime girlfriend, Taylor Sheaffer; brother, Caleb Mayes; sister, Emma Rose Renick; paternal grandparents, Deane Renick (Julie) and Tessa Ludwig (Kurt); maternal grandparents, Belinda Ciejek and Christopher Ciejek (Kim); grand-grandparents, John “Stack” and Doris Wooten, Judy Morgan, Lynn Tomlin, and Judy Spain; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and loads of friends.

The Wooten and Renick families held a joint Celebration of Life for Jacob and Michael Mayes III on Tuesday, Oct 10, 1 p.m., at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA 23140. Friends and family were received from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., just prior to the service. Burial followed in Williamsburg Memorial Park in Williamsburg, Virginia.
