Jan Purcell

Jan Purcell, 77, of Providence Forge, VA, formerly of Hampton and Richmond, VA, passed away May 1, 2018.

Jan was born to Arnold and Irene Duggins of Ceclia, KY. She was the youngest of four children and the last surviving member of that generation.

Jan moved to Richmond as a young woman and married Dick Purcell. They ran a successful coffee business together while they raised their only child, Michelle. Jan moved on to work in the cemetery industry in Virginia and North Carolina for many years until her retirement.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Irene Duggins; brothers, Billy and Tommy Duggins; beloved sister, Imogene Horrocks; and niece and nephew, Sheila and Bobby.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle Moore and Mark Moore of Grove, VA; nieces, Jennie Boling of Richland, GA, Rhonda Prather of Hampton, VA, and Carol Buck of Chattanooga, TN, along with their spouses, children, and grandchildren; plus Sheila’s and Bobby’s children; and will be missed by her special friend, Ann Burks and her family of Providence Forge.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on May 20, 2018, 3-8 p.m., at Eagles Aerie #4548, 113 Palace Lane, Williamsburg, VA.
