Jewel Whitehurst Sheldon

Jewel “Judy” Whitehurst Sheldon, 70, of Toano, Virginia, passed into eternal rest on April 19, 2026. She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace.
Judy was born on September 7, 1955, in Charles City, Virginia, to the late Hubert C. Whitehurst, Sr. and Jewel L. Whitehurst. She was raised in Charles City and graduated from York Academy in 1973. Throughout her working years, Judy was employed by the State Highway Department, Sheldon Lumber Company, and later worked in real estate and property management.
Though small in stature, Judy had an immense spirit. She cherished time spent gathering with family and friends, where her talents as a wonderful cook and cheerful host always shined. She enjoyed vacations at the beach and antiquing, finding joy in life’s simple pleasures. Above all, Judy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. Her absence leaves a profound and lasting ache in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Judy is survived by her children: Keith Sheldon, Jr. (Mary), Trudy Sheldon, and Kevin Sheldon (Erin). She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Dylan, McKinzie, Keith III, Austin, Kolby, Hayden, Chris, Olivia, Ashlie, Leslie, Miranda, Alivia, Trista, and Melanie, as well as 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by the father of her children, Keith Sheldon, her special “daughter in love,” Jamie Leigh, and her brothers, John Whitehurst and Hubert “Pudgie” Whitehurst, Jr. (Judy Faye).
A Celebration of Life service will be held on May 23 at Chelsea Plantation, 874 Chelsea Plantation Lane, West Point VA. The time will be announced at a later date.
