Juanita Perkins Green McArthur

Juanita Perkins Green McArthur, 89, went to be with the Lord on December 12, 2014.

She was an active member in the Methodist churches in Chesterfield County, Jackson County, NC, and in Quinton, VA. Juanita was very involved in the Golden Age Senior Center in Sylva, NC.

She was an avid bowler, golfer, line dancer and traveler, visiting all 50 states.

Juanita enjoyed volunteering in many civic organizations and received the distinguished Volunteer of the Year award from the Governor of North Carolina for her work in Jackson County, NC. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents David and Fannie Perkins; two brothers, Randolph and Oliver Perkins; her first husband, Paul Green (married from 1948 to 1991) and her second husband, Currie McArthur (married from 2001 to 2010).

She is survived bv her children, David Green (Tina), Ronald Green, Rebecca Blackburn (Patrick); a brother, Beverly Perkins; grandchildren, Christina Green, Brian Green, and Jade Blackburn; step-grandchildren, Angie Nail, Patrick Blackburn, Jr. and Stephanie White; and many cousins, great-grandchildren, and extended family members.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, 2014 at Providence United Methodist Church, 4001 New Kent Hwy, Quinton, VA 23141. Interment followed in the church’s cemetery. The family received friends at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA 23140.
