Lillian Gay

With deep love and gratitude, Lillian “Red” Gay, 84, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Jan. 1, 2026.

Lillian lived a beautiful life marked by grace, devotion, and quiet strength. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth filled every room she entered. Known for her gentle wisdom, sense of humor, and generous heart, she left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Lillian took great pride in her family and found her greatest joy in time spent together. She had a special gift for making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and loved.

Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the beautiful life Lillian lived and the countless memories she gave us. Her legacy of love, compassion and faith will live on through all who loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Ricky Gay, who passed just one month ago; her parents, Kathleen Pearl Ford and James Oscar Ford; her daughter, Barbara Kates; her sister, Elizabeth Longley; her brother, George Ford; and her beloved dog, Nosey.

She is survived by her daughters, Tammy Hite Taylor and her husband Greg, and Linda Andrews; her sons, William Hite Jr. (Rosemary) and David Brown (Faith); her sister, Pat Wilson; her brother, James Ford Jr.; along with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many cherished relatives and friends, including her closest lifelong friend and confidant, William Hite.

A graveside celebration of her life will be held on Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, 1 p.m., at Washington Memorial Park, 6217 Memorial Drive, Sandston, VA. The family invites all who knew and loved her to attend an honor a life so beautifully lived and to shower her one final time with the admiration and attention she so adored.
