Mary E. Minor

Mary E. Minor, of Quinton, Virginia, passed away on Oct. 27, 2022, after a short and unexpected hospital stay.

Mary was born on Feb. 29, 1940, in Powhatan County, Virginia. She was married to the late Thomas R. Minor Sr. She was funny, loving, resourceful, and a crafty woman who was also a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Mary was an excellent singer, seamstress, gardener, and loved the color “red”. She also loved traveling with her late husband and friends. Whenever you saw her, you would first see her smiling face accompanied by her saying, “Hey…How are you doing?”

Mary obtained a cosmetology license and served her community for many years by managing a hair salon from her home while her children were young. She later attended Smithdeal-Massey School of Business and then worked for the Internal Revenue Service. In 2005, she retired from the Bank of America.

Mary is survived by her four children, Sharon Minor-Randal, Thomas R. Minor Jr., Patricia Minor Christian, and Jonathan W. Minor; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, five siblings, and a host of nieces, nephews, loving relatives, and friends.

A public viewing was held on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, 9:30 a.m. at March Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, 1 p.m., at Second Liberty Baptist Church, 8120 George W. Watkins Rd., Quinton, Virginia.
