Nellie E. Holmes

Nellie E. Holmes, 96, of Providence Forge, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 23, 2022.

Nellie was a devoted member of Samaria Baptist Church, the Chickahominy Indian Tribe, and Woodmen of the World.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Edward “Gus” Holmes, and grandsons, Hawkins, Devin, and Greg.

Nellie is survived by her children, Merle (Drue), Linda, Rose (Wakie), Edith (Harley), Hilda (Dave), and Audrey (Lowell); a son of her heart, Alva (Janet); eight grandchildren, Darrin, Robbie, Michelle, Lisa, Farrar, Mary, Meagan, and Loren; 16 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; her siblings, Ronald, Melvin, Sydelle, Juanita, Kevin, Clinton, and Rosalyn; in-laws, John, Helene, and Joyce; a special and devoted nephew, Russell (Charlene); along with a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

A service was held on Thursday, May 26, at Samaria Baptist Church, Providence Forge, Virginia.
