Otis Eugene Timberlake Sr.

Otis Eugene Timberlake Sr., 95, of Providence Forge, Virginia, passed away Feb. 11, 2021.

Otis was a member of the “Greatest Generation” and bravely served his country as a Private First Class in the 63rd Infantry of the United States Army during World War II. While fighting in the European Theater, Otis was captured by the German Army as a Prisoner of War.

After serving his country, Otis went to work for Chesapeake Corporation for 43 years, most of which were spent in the marine department. After retirement from the paper mill, you could find Otis building furniture on tinkering with things in his workshop, fishing, or spending time with his family. Otis was also a lifetime member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church.

Otis was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Eugene and Mary Ethel Timberlake; wife, Louis Bolt Timberlake; son, Otis E. Timberlake Jr.; grandson, Glen W. Timberlake II; great-granddaughter, Jenna Grace King; and siblings, Raymond, James (Jimmy), and Ruby Acree.

He is survived by his children, Ethel King (Jack), Wade Timberlake (Cindy), and Patricia Turk (Jeff); daughter-in-law, Joyce Johnson Timberlake; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2 p.m., under the pavilion at Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery, 20051 Tabernacle Road, Barhamsville, VA 23181.
