Dorothy “Dot” Schroeder Moran, 79, passed away August 8, 2015. She was passionate about educating children which led to her being a schoolteacher at Battlefield Elementary as well as various local preschools. Dot attended many churches during her life, but spent a great deal of time being active in Providence United Methodist Church. In recent years she also enjoyed attending St. Elizabeth Ann Seton with friends, as well as other area churches. Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Dickie Moran. Woodrow C. “Woody” Hockaday, 74, of Lanexa, Virginia, passed away on June 28, 2015. Woody loved being outdoors and connecting to nature, whether he was hunting, fishing, or working in his garden. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 37 years, Patricia Lee Hockaday. Minnie Loretta Collette Mountcastle was born in the tiny coal mining community of Berwind, West Virginia on January 11, 1924.
