Tommy G. Shumaker Jr., 68, of New Kent, VA, passed away May 9, 2015. Tommy started his career as an auto body repair man at the age of 15, and later was the founder and owner of Tommy’s Body Shop and Quinton Motor Co. in New Kent for over 20 years. He took his knowledge to Richmond Technical Center and taught the trade for 8 years. He started his military career in the Army Reserves and later in life took a civilian job with the Army National Guard and finished his working career with a total of 41 years in…

Chapman Leigh Harrison, of Donnybrook Farm, New Kent, died peacefully on May 10, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margie Pierce Harrison; daughter, Kendall Harrison Hatley and her husband Robert; two grandchildren, Kristine Harrison Hatley and Robert Carter Harrison Hatley and his wife Christina; and two great grandchildren, Hunter Leigh Harrison Hatley and Hudson Pierce Hatley. Mr. Harrison, a lifetime resident of New Kent, graduated in 1948 from Virginia Tech after having served in the United States Navy during WWII. Joseph “Tyler” Russell, born August 24, 1991, departed this life on April 15, 2015 to join his father, Michael “Shaun” Russell, and his grandfather, Frank C. Russell III. They were both preceded in death by him. Tyler leaves behind his mother, Diane Russell, his grandmother, Ashley S. Russell, brothers Corey, Anthony, and Elroy Bates, stepsister Karrie Martin, and uncle, Zachary C. Russell, as well as many loving cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. Juanita Perkins Green McArthur, 89, went to be with the Lord on December 12, 2014. She was an active member in the Methodist churches in Chesterfield County, Jackson County, NC, and in Quinton, VA. Juanita was very involved in the Golden Age Senior Center in Sylva, NC. She was an avid bowler, golfer, line dancer and traveler, visiting all 50 states.
