Michael Joseph Rett, 28, of Providence Forge, VA went to be with the Lord, July 26, 2013. He graduated from Trinity High School in Louisville, Kentucky. Michael received a B.A. degree from Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio. Michael had a great passion for the environment and enjoyed spending his free time in the outdoors. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Gene Martin, and maternal grandparents, Headley and Nancy Dawson. G. Paul McGinn, 73, of Providence Forge, passed away June 8, 2013. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Paul was an avid golfer and a member of Brickshire Golf Club. He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Edward McGinn, and a brother, Mike McGinn. William Lathan ‘Bill’ Burnett passed peacefully from this life on May 30, 2013. Born in 1925 in Meadows of Dan, Va., he was a long time resident of the peninsula. This last year of his life he made his home with his daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Dennis, in New Kent. An avid fisherman and hunter, he received an honor as the longest member of the Toano Hunt Club. Raymond Foster Shaffer, 80, of Barhamsville, died May 11, 2013. He served 22 years in the United States Army as a CWII Warrant Officer in the Transportation Corporation. Raymond was a veteran of the Korean Conflict earning a Silver Star and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was an atomic veteran involved in the testing of the H-Bomb in the Eniwetok Islands.
