Stacy Leigh Batkins Wilson, 46, of New Kent, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013. Stacy worked as a home care nurse for 10 years. She enjoyed traveling with her friends and spending time with her family. She had a wonderful sense of humor and always loved a good joke. Stacy touched every person she ever met and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. William Lathan ‘Bill’ Burnett passed peacefully from this life on May 30, 2013. Born in 1925 in Meadows of Dan, Va., he was a long time resident of the peninsula. This last year of his life he made his home with his daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Dennis, in New Kent. An avid fisherman and hunter, he received an honor as the longest member of the Toano Hunt Club. Raymond Foster Shaffer, 80, of Barhamsville, died May 11, 2013. He served 22 years in the United States Army as a CWII Warrant Officer in the Transportation Corporation. Raymond was a veteran of the Korean Conflict earning a Silver Star and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was an atomic veteran involved in the testing of the H-Bomb in the Eniwetok Islands.
