Ruben Hunter Fleming, “Rudy,” 80, of Lanexa, VA, departed this life, September 14, 2013. He graduated from Fork Union Military Academy and served in the Merchant Marines and United States Army. He was the owner and operator of CDS Supply Company, Inc. for 41 years. Ruben was preceded in death by his father, William W. Fleming, Sr., his mother, Marie C. Brown; his first wife, Audrey P. Michael Joseph Rett, 28, of Providence Forge, VA went to be with the Lord, July 26, 2013. He graduated from Trinity High School in Louisville, Kentucky. Michael received a B.A. degree from Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio. Michael had a great passion for the environment and enjoyed spending his free time in the outdoors. He was an avid soccer player, rock climber, snowboarder and mountain bicyclist. Megan Renee Martin Wyatt, 32, of Providence Forge, VA, passed away Friday, August 18, 2013. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Gene Martin, and maternal grandparents, Headley and Nancy Dawson. Megan is survived by her daughters, Alyssa Duff and Layla Wyatt; her mother, Sandy Dawson; her father Jeffery Martin; a sister Danielle Searle (Joe); a niece Breanna Searle; grandmother Elsie Martin; as well as many extended family and countless friends. G. Paul McGinn, 73, of Providence Forge, passed away June 8, 2013. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Paul was an avid golfer and a member of Brickshire Golf Club. He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Edward McGinn, and a brother, Mike McGinn. William Lathan ‘Bill’ Burnett passed peacefully from this life on May 30, 2013. Born in 1925 in Meadows of Dan, Va., he was a long time resident of the peninsula. This last year of his life he made his home with his daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Dennis, in New Kent. An avid fisherman and hunter, he received an honor as the longest member of the Toano Hunt Club. Raymond Foster Shaffer, 80, of Barhamsville, died May 11, 2013. He served 22 years in the United States Army as a CWII Warrant Officer in the Transportation Corporation. Raymond was a veteran of the Korean Conflict earning a Silver Star and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was an atomic veteran involved in the testing of the H-Bomb in the Eniwetok Islands. Marcia Burnham Meador’s three-year battle with cancer came to an end on March 21, 2013. She was 56 years old. Words won’t capture the person and life of this incredible woman, but if a single word is chosen, Marcia was “wonderful.” She loved life, loved people, loved new experiences, loved to travel and loved her family and friends.
