Randall Keith Sanders

Randall Keith Sanders, 60, of New Kent County, Virginia passed away at his home on February 27, 2026.

Randy was born September 16,1965 in Coco Solo Hospital in Panama. He spent most of his childhood and life in Virginia, but enjoyed three years in Wurzburg, Germany while the family was deployed overseas. He played baseball in his youth and worked at Creatures ‘N Critters, a local pet store, as a teen. He attended Potomac Senior High School in Dumfries and was a member of the school’s first graduating class. He briefly attended Virginia Tech before joining the Army and later continued to serve by volunteering at the Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton (OWL) Volunteer Fire Department. He loved family, hunting, and gaming, and had a soft spot for animals, having raised, rescued, and doted upon many dogs and cats.

He was truly grateful for the opportunities he received through Cruz Associates, spending his last fifteen years as a machinist, first at the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station and ultimately at the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Indian Head, Maryland. There he helped to test and assemble some of the explosive munitions the U.S. Armed Forces use in the field. His family liked to joke with people that Randy made bombs whenever someone asked about him.

Randy was proud of and devoted to his loved ones. He is survived by his mother, Jeannette Finch, stepfather Robert Finch, father Marshall Sanders, his brother Kevin Sanders (wife Donna), sister Kim Raat (husband Dean), stepsister Linda Finch, Uncle Ernie Walls and Aunt Patty, cousins Cindy Schmitt (husband Dan), and Julie Keen (husband Scott), his niece Katheryn Raat, nephews Tyler Sanders, Chris Sanders (wife Katherine), and Mike Raat, as well as the many cousins, aunts, and uncles of the Davis and Walls families and his closest of friends, Eric Cruz and Jill Cruz.

Randy’s family would like to thank Jill and Eric for their immeasurable friendship and support over the years.

A celebration of life, with reception to follow, will be held at 11:00 am on March 28, 2026, at Corinth Baptist Church, 11650 New Kent Hwy, New Kent, VA 23124.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local animal shelter or rescue squad.
