Robert Claude Via

Robert Claude Via, 82, of Quinton, VA, passed away January 10, 2016.
He was a true American and God-fearing man who served in the United States Army. Robert was a great man who was very humorous and could make anyone laugh and loved life.
Robert was a Millwright at Richmond Paper Board Company until he retired in 1995. After retirement, he kept himself busy around the house with home improvements.
Robert had a love for gardening and took great pride in growing his own food and flowers. He loved the country life and enjoyed being out in nature. Robert liked to watch NASCAR, football, baseball, and he especially enjoyed watching old westerns and sitcoms on television. He also liked to fish and believed in gun rights.
Robert was a family man and enjoyed spending time with the everyone, especially his grandkids. For years, he maintained the grounds of Good Hope Baptist Church.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert B. Via and Grace Via Walker; a sister, Grace Via; and a grandson, Christopher D. Via.
He is survived by two daughters, Pamela Via and Kelly Pearson; two sons, Jeffrey and Christopher Via; two brothers, Calvin and Burrell “Winky” Via; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 14, at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA, 23140. Interment followed at Good Hope Baptist Church, New Kent, VA. Family received friends prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.
