Sandra Langdon Jakubcik

Sandra Langdon Jakubcik, of New Kent, VA, passed away on Nov. 15, 2018.

She attended Princess Ann High School in Virginia Beach and graduated from Leigh Memorial Hospital in Norfolk as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She lived in Reston, VA for many years as well as Stuart, FL, and Newport News, VA. She was certified as a Master Gardener by the VCE and was an active member of the New Kent Quilters and the Lions Club.

Sandy was a colorful person and she showed that off in the gorgeous quilts that she made and the gardens she tended. She liked to consider herself a “worker bee” and was always willing to lend a hand. She could usually be found helping in the kitchen, relaxing on her back porch, or giving advice on a multitude of topics. Being outside in her garden and her greatest pleasure next to reading a good murder mystery and eating good food. As a Master Gardener, she was a proud participant in the design and execution of the gardens at Menchville House and the Grin and Grow Children’s Garden of Newport News.

Sandra is survived by her loving husband, Bill Jakubcik; devoted sisters Becky Melton (Ronald) and Judy Oleksik (Stanley). She will be greatly missed by her daughter Susan, son-in-law Richard, and grandson Andrew. She leaves behind many caring and kind friends who spent a lot of time visiting, bringing meals, and lifting her spirits over the last few weeks.

The family will receive visitors from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA, 23140. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hospice House and Support Care of Williamsburg, www.williamsburghospice.org.
