After starting the season undefeated, New Kent Lady Trojans’ volleyball team has run into a rough patch, dropping two of their last three contests. The visiting Poquoson Lady Islanders wasn’t going to let New Kent’s struggles factor into their performance. Two local residents were named to the Dean’s List at the University of Maryland Global Campus for the Summer 2025 term. Victoria Fox of Charles City and Tenisha High-Adams of Providence Forge were recognized for their academic success. In order to be named to the Dean’s List, a student must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 while completing at least six credits.
Charles City Sheriff’s Office is asking for the publics assistance to locate a Charles City man wanted for attempted second degree murder. Charles City County Sheriff’s Office is searching for Ernest L. Jones, 42, in relation to alleged charges of attempted second degree murder, felony domestic assault, and alleged strangulation related to a Sept. 30 incident where he allegedly committed the offenses against a female companion. Two court cases were resolved Monday morning as part of New Kent Circuit Court proceedings: –Alonzo Cotman, 58, of the 6700 block of Adkins Road, Providence Forge, had one charge of felony hit and run dismissed. –Tamara Renae Toots, 40, of the 5200 block of Hopewell Road, New Kent, had five counts of credit card forgery, three counts of credit card larceny, and one count of credit card fraud dropped.
