Stellar defense lifts New Kent Lady Trojans to shutout victory
After having a week-and-a-half off due to postponements, New Kent’s Lady Trojans’ field hockey team looked to get back in the win column Monday night. A strong defensive effort along with two second half goals were enough for the Lady Trojans to garner a victory. Fourth quarter scores by Alivia Snow and Ava Jenkins were enough to propel New Kent to a 2-0 victory over the visiting Mechanicsville Lady Mustangs in non-district competition. Rosario named to Dean’s List at University of Maryland Global Campus
Isaac Rosario, a resident of New Kent, has been named to the Dean’s List at the University of Maryland Global Camus for the Summer 2026 term. To be recognized for the achievement, a student must complete at least six credit and earn a grade-point average of at least 3.5.
Charles City citizens lash out at leadership as funds approved to pay for legal fees for supervisor
Decisions made by Charles City County’s Board of Supervisors are continuing to draw the ire of citizens. The latest decision by county leadership has drawn major concerns and questions about the possibility of a conflict of interest being violated. A Richmond man will spend six months in jail for driving while intoxicated in Charles City County. Andrew Nicholas Cotman, 31, of the 6800 block of Roost Hill Court, Richmond, entered a guilty plea to an amended charge of driving while intoxicated-first offense (originally driving while intoxicated that resulted in maiming) as part of a plea agreement reached on Sept. 18 in Charles City Circuit Court.
