New Kent High School golf dominates to win Region 3A Championship

New Kent High School’s Golf Team dominated the Region 3A Championships to capture the title during the Sept. 30 competition at Dogwood Trace Golf Course. The team compiled a cumulative score of 307, winning by more than 20 strokes to win the regional championship. Bay Rivers District Rivals Tabb (330) and York (331) finished in second and third, respectively. All six of New Kent’s golfers placed in the top sixteen in the competition.   • Stellar defense lifts New Kent Lady Trojans to shutout victory

    After having a week-and-a-half off due to postponements, New Kent’s Lady Trojans’ field hockey team looked to get back in the win column Monday night. A strong defensive effort along with two second half goals were enough for the Lady Trojans to garner a victory. Fourth quarter scores by Alivia Snow and Ava Jenkins were enough to propel New Kent to a 2-0 victory over the visiting Mechanicsville Lady Mustangs in non-district competition.     A Gloucester woman will spend three months in jail for possessing illegal drugs in New Kent County. Desiree Christiane Garcia, 33, of the 6800 block of Cherokee Lane, entered a guilty plea to a single count of possession of a Schedule I/II Substance as part of a plea agreement reached Monday afternoon in New Kent Circuit Court.
