  The boys’ soccer team at New Kent High School started the season strong, notching several wins and making early threats in the season. But as the program continues to grow, bumps in the road, specifically courtesy of Bay Rivers District opponents, often cast a shadow on how far the team needs to progress to be competitive. • Charles City withstands early deficit, rallies to topple West Point 15-9

  

  After falling behind 6-1 early in their Apr. 28 contest against the visiting West Point Lady Pointers, Chrles City’s Lady Panthers would be tested to see if they could battle back from adversity. The home team passed it with flying colors. Charles City outscored West Point 14-3 in the remainder of the contest to win 15-9 in the Tidewater District contest. • Charles City citizens express concerns over data center project, property reassessments

  Charles City County citizens are challenging local leadership to have an impact in major areas in the county and provide more transparency. Residents voiced concerns on two specific areas during Tuesday night’s Charles City Board of Supervisors’ meeting, hoping their messages get through and are addressed. The first issue brought to the table was concern about the Pointe One data center project. Currently, the project is zoned for M-1 and M-2 (industrial zoning) and could construct by-right. • Charles City Board of Supervisors adopt $48.5 million budget for FY2026-27

  Despite concerns from citizens and questions from one district leader, Charles City County Board of Supervisors passed their FY2026-2027 budget. Charles City board members voted 2-1 to adopt the $48,456,117 budget during Tuesday night’s regular board meeting. District 2 representative Michael Hill and District 3 representative Byron Adkins Sr. voted in favor of the budget, while District 1 representative Ryan Patterson voted against it.
