Charles City citizens call for resignations of supervisors, county administrator

Charles City citizens are calling for the resignation of two of the county leaders as well as the recently hired county administrator. For approximately 70 minutes of the 90-minute Charles City Board of Supervisors meeting on Nov. 25, citizens lashed out with the direction of the county, with many of them expressing frustration and lack of faith in leadership.   • Charles City’s Hilliard, Zuidema named to Tidewater District First Team in football

    Two Charles City High School football players were named to the Tidewater All-District First Team. Senior Raizen Hilliard was selected as a defensive back. Junior Damien Zuidema was selected at the wide receiver position on offense. Zuidema was also selected to the all-district second team as a defensive back. Christopher Barbour Jr. was the other all-district selection for the Panthers, being named to the second team as a defensive lineman.

    New Kent’s Lady Trojans took the three-plus hour road trip to Christiansburg to take on the Lady Blue Demons for the right to play in the VHSL Group 3A State Volleyball Championship. And while New Kent performed valiantly in the face of competition, It would be the Lady Blue Demons who showed that their undefeated record was that way for a particular reason. New Kent fell 11-25, 19-25, 16-25 on the road, thus ending their quest for a state championship and ending their season with an impressive 20-5 record.     Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the next edition of the New Kent-Charles City Chronicle will appear on newsstands on Wednesday, Nov. 26. The deadline for all advertising and submissions for the next issue will be Tuesday, Nov. 25, 12 p.m. Chronicle offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28.
