Shining ‘Gems’

Two Virginia Gems teams, based out of New Kent Gymnastics Center, took team titles in their season debut on Saturday, Nov. 23 in the Old Dominion Beach Blast Cheer and Dance Tournament at the Arthur Ashe Center in Richmond. The Junior Level 1 team (above) and the Senior Level 3 team (below) won first place in their respective divisions. The Tiny team (at bottom) received honorable mention in an exhibition. “I couldn’t be more proud of all the Gems for the dedication it took to have such a successful debut,” said Teams Director Dayna DeShazo, “I can’t wait to see what the future will hold for our many seasons to come.” Tryouts for Season 2 are coming this January.
