New Kent wrestling garners third place finish in Maryland

Members of New Kent High School’s wrestling team proudly wear medals after their third place finish at the “War on the Shore” in Salisbury, Md.

New Kent’s wrestling team took to the mats out-of-state, earning a third place finish in the “War on the Shore” meet in Salisbury, Md., to open up its 2013-14 season.

B.C. Laprade won the 138 pound division, while Duncan Johns finished as runner-up in the 106 pound division. Other top five finishes went to Blake Hohman (4th-145 pounds), Zach Edmonds (5th- 182 pounds), Wilson Gregory, (5th-220 pounds), and Zach Rodriguez (5th-285 pounds).

Jackson Gray (113 pounds) and Kade Sanders (132 pounds) finished the meet with sixth place finishes, while James Giffin finished in seventh in the 152 pound weight class. Bryson Mitchell (120 pounds) and Zac Perkins (126 pounds) also garnered team points with eighth place finishes.
