Holding Bruton to only two shots on goal for the entire game, New Kent’s girls soccer team earned a 6-0 win Monday night over the visiting Lady Panthers.

The excellent defensive work paid off for New Kent, as Kristen Taylor scored the Lady Trojans’ second goal on a long drive with only two minutes left in the half.
Around the 33-minute mark, Lady Trojan Aubrie Cook attempted to score but was pushed by Bruton goalkeeper Vanessa Beltran, setting up a penalty kick. McCaughan took the penalty kick and capitalized on a successful shot into the left corner of the goal.
New Kent scored three more times in the match, including one goal by Lynsey Harris and two goals by Kirsten DeHart, with one coming off of a great corner kick by Rachel Byers.
“The second half was very good,” said Anderson concerning her team. “They were spreading the ball out more.”
New Kent goalkeeper Amanda Wood saved both of Bruton’s shots on goal, while the Lady Trojans made 6 of their 18 shots on goal.
