New Kent gymnastics ends 4th season with state titles

Raylin Wills, Hailey Crusenberry, Lucy Morgan and Libby Morgan helped propel New Kent Gymnastics to state titles in June.
After rigorous regiments and multiple competitions over the last four years, New Kent Gymnastics staked claim to another state title.
LeeAnn Testerman brought home a championship in the floor exercise for Level 4 state meet. She also placed third on vault and fourth all-around. Alex Crostic finished second on the balance beam, third on floor, and third all-around. Mackenzie Harper finished sixth in the floor exercise, while Afton Fults finished sixth at the Level 3 state meet.
The group also competed in the Xcel State championship meet, adding more titles. Hope Couch earned the gold on vault and finished fourth in all-around competition. Ryan Griffith earned second place finishes on the uneven bars, floor exercise, and all-around. Cambell Coyle garnered a second place finish on the balance beam, third on the uneven bars, and fifth place finishes on the floor exercise and all-around. Other place finishers are Hannah Couch (4th-uneven bars), BriNiya Glenn (5th-floor exercise), Grace Chisenhall (3rd-vault), Hailey Crusenberry (4th-vault), Hannah Bradley (2nd-vault, 6th-uneven bars, 6th- all-around), and Madison Schumacher (3rd-beam).
“When you have coaches, parents, and athletes that are one with our purpose, it is easy to shape champions,” said team coordinator Dayna DeShazo. “We train not to win, but to conquer individual goals and then raise expectations again.”
