New Kent 11U baseball wins state title

New Kent’s 11U baseball won the Cal Ripkin state tournament held July 3-7 in Crimora.

The team opened off tournament play on Independence Day, topping Northeast Augusta County before falling to Glen Allen later on in the day. On July 5, the team strung together wins in a double-header, defeating Arlington in the first contest and West Augusta County in the second matchup.

Only July 6, New Kent defeated Rockville to set-up a rematch against Glen Allen in the double-elimination tournament. New Kent topped Glen Allen to force a final contest between the teams on July 7. New Kent prevailed, defeating Glen Allen to claim the state title.

New Kent finished the tournament with a 6-1 record.
