Andrew Carlin toured New Kent’s 3.1-mile cross country course in 17:14 to claim first overall and lead the host Trojans to a second place finish in Wednesday’s four-team meet.

Carlin finished 18 seconds ahead of his nearest challenger, Grafton’s Dylan McNamara, who placed second in 17:32. The Trojans, meanwhile, totaled 56 points, well ahead of Jamestown’s 80 and York’s 118 but trailing Grafton’s 20.

The top five finishers from each school score points. Rounding out New Kent’s point production were Tyler Brightwell (7th, 17:53), Christian Lysek (15th, 18:36), Holden Minor (16th, 18:48), and Yuri Frazier (17th, 18:51).

The Lady Trojans, meanwhile, did not field the required five runners for consideration in team scoring. Grafton won the girls’ portion with 25 followed by York (57) and Jamestown (81).
