Allen named MEC player of the week

Karley Allen, a former volleyball standout at New Kent High School currently playing for UVA-Wise, has been named Mountain East Conference player of the week for Oct. 13-19.

The sophomore recorded 36 kills in one tournament and 39 in another to win the honor. She currently leads the 12-member conference in kills with 286. She is also among the conference leaders in digs.

Last season, she was named all-conference second team and finished second in the voting for conference freshman of the year.
