Carlin, New Kent run past Mathews, Colonial Heights

Andrew Carlin toured New Kent’s 3.1-mile cross-country course in 17:02 to finish first overall and lead the host Trojans past Mathews and Colonial Heights in Wednesday’s meet.

The Trojans scored 23 points while Mathews placed second with 34 and Colonial Heights trailed with 80.

Carlin finished 37 seconds ahead of his closest challenger. Tyler Brightwell (17:57) and Holden Minor (18:24) placed third and fourth overall for New Kent. Yuri Frazier came in seventh followed by Brian Stevenson in eighth to complete the Trojans’ scoring. Finishing times for those runners placing sixth and beyond were not available.

New Kent’s Lady Trojans lacked the required five runners to field a team on varsity level and did not figure in the team scoring. Mathews won the girls’ meet with 17 points while Colonial Heights totaled 44.
