New Kent’s Carlin second overall in Conference 25 cross-country

Andrew Carlin finished second overall to help lead New Kent’s Trojans to a fourth place team finish in Wednesday’s Conference 25 cross-country meet at Park View-South Hill.

Carlin ran the 3.1-mile course in 17:02. The Trojans’ Tyler Brightwell (12th, 18:07), Yuri Frazier (22nd, 19:10), Michael Stevenson (26th, 19:25), and Holden Minor (27th, 19:26) completed New Kent’s scoring. Christian Lysek (29th, 19:36) and Justin Stewart (38th, 20:39) also competed for New Kent.

The Trojans scored 89 points. Lafayette won the conference title with 35 followed by Warhill (46) and Poquoson (79). Trailing New Kent were York (97), Southampton (184), Colonial Heights (200), and Park View (246).

For the Lady Trojans, Talia Hohman posted the best finish placing 34th in 27:45 followed by Maddie Shifflett (36th, 28:00), Laura-Ann Kinder (43rd, 31:31), and Amber Miller (44th, 34:06).

Lafayette won the girls’ meet with 23 points. New Kent did not have the required five runners to qualify for team competition.
