Trey Gregory (left) and Evan Canady (right), both former New Kent wrestlers, earned All-American status by placing in the National Collegiate Wrestling Association tournament. Canady finished as runner-up in the 235-pound weight class, while Gregory finished in third place in the 157-pound weight division.

Two former New Kent wrestlers are still making a name for themselves at the college level.

Evan Canady, a senior at Liberty University, and Trey Gregory, a junior at James Madison University, both were champions this past weekend at the National Collegiate Wrestling Assosciation Mid-Atlantic Conference tournament. They now advance to the national tournament in Allen, Texas on March 12-14.

Canady, wrestling in the 235-pound weight class, also received the award for most pins (4) this past weekend.

Gregory, wrestling in the 157-pound weight class, serves as president of the JMU wrestling club.
