Davis Produce won the 30 and over age bracket in last Saturday's New Kent Educational Foundation/West Point Rotary tourney.

New Kent Education Foundation and West Point Rotary held their fifth annual three-on-three basketball tournament at New Kent High School to raise money for both groups on March 7.

Money raised through this year’s event benefits New Kent Public Schools and the West Point YMCA.

Twelve adult basketball teams competed in two age brackets. In the 30 and over group, Davis Produce vanquished Team Womack by a score of 40-24 to claim the first place trophy. In the 19-29 bracket, Team Gillette won the championship by defeating Virginia Storm 47-39.

New Kent sponsors for the event were Stran Trout, Hayden and Trudy Van Dyke, Ray and May O’Leary, Steve and Mava Miles, Bobby and Carol Nelms, Craig and Lisa Jones, Wendy and Roy Geiger, James and Cynthia Pitts, Christopher Lindsay, Dr. David and Karen Myers and Source Auto and Hardware. Drinks for the concessions were provided by CRH Catering and Thomas Evelyn.

West Point sponsors included C & F Bank, C & F Finance Corporation, C&F Mortgage Corporation, Eltham Auto Clinic, Old Dominion Grain of West Point, RockTenn, and Henderson Incorporated.

Both organizations would like to thank the generous sponsors, the many wonderful volunteers, including members of the New Kent High School Beta Club and the adult athletes who made this event possible.

Team Gillette captured the tournament's 19-29 age division.
